An INFJ woman sits on a tree stump with a laptop, surrounded by a natural setting with trees and water. Next to the image is text that reads "Your Weekly Journal Prompt" followed by a question: If someone else lived my life and faced my challenges, how would I encourage them to care for themselves?

As an INFJ, you have an extraordinary ability to see the best in others and offer them grace during their hardest moments. Yet, when it comes to your own journey, that compassionate lens often becomes clouded with harsh judgment and unrealistic expectations.

Today’s journal prompt will help you step outside yourself and view your own life through the same compassionate lens you use for others, potentially revealing blind spots in your self-care and areas where you deserve more gentleness than you’ve been allowing yourself.

Today, we’re going to share:

  • A journal prompt to help you view your life in a new, compassionate way

  • What to do if you find yourself slipping back into self-judgment during this exercise

  • How to recognize when your inner critic is sabotaging your journaling

  • How to (consistently) put any essential changes that arise into action

Today’s Journal Prompt

If someone else lived my life and faced my challenges, how would I encourage them to care for themselves?

3 Possible Obstacles

As you work with this journal prompt, you might encounter some internal resistance – this is completely normal and even expected. After all, you’re challenging deeply ingrained patterns of thinking that have been with you for years, perhaps decades.

The following obstacles are common stumbling blocks that many INFJs face when learning to extend themselves the same compassion they so naturally offer others. By anticipating these challenges, you can move through them more gracefully and maintain your momentum toward greater self-compassion.
